The Disrespected is an independent publication launched in September 2025 by Michael Arace. He began his career in sports journalism working nights at the Hartford Courant when he started college in 1982. His major beats at the Courant included the Boston Celtics, the Hartford Whalers and UConn basketball. He moved to Columbus to be the first Blue Jackets beat writer at the Dispatch in 1999. He was a general sports columnist from 2004-2025, when he took a buyout from the Big D and founded Disrespected Media LLC. He covers Columbus pro sports, with an emphasis on the Jackets and Crew, but with no boundaries.
